Stitch Fix Friday

I am so far behind with my Stitch Fix reviews, I’m going to share my previous two fixes.  I still really love the service and my stylist has been awesome.  I also enjoy looking back at these posts when I’m in need of outfit inspiration.  I love clothes.  I have a closet full of clothes.  But there are times my closet feels overwhelming and these posts are so helpful in those moments!  Here we go…

First, I don’t know what was up with my hair in these pictures.  It was soon after I cut it shorter and maybe I was still learning how best to style it?  Just needed to put that out there.

The first item I tried on was the teal Laila Jayde Bowie dolman top.  Dolman tops and I do not get along.  I think they work well on so many people, but they are just unflattering on me.  I think they’re too clingy in the mid-section and I knew this was an automatic no for me.  I did love the color, though.  RETURN

The second item I tried was the gray RD Style, Sonole open drape cardigan.  Do I need another gray cardigan?  Nope.  Did I keep it anyway?  Yes.  What can I say – I have a love for gray cardigans.  I don’t think I have any that are this cocoon style (is that what it’s called or did I make it up?) and I liked that this wasn’t too heavy - a perfect extra layer.  While I received this in the spring, I think it will be a great fall staple as well.  KEEP

Next up, the Daniel Rainn Bernal Split Neck blouse.  I really liked this top, but I already have a very similar top from a previous Stitch Fix!!  The top I already own is sleeveless so it is a slightly different style and I do really love the print, but didn’t see the need to have two extremely similar tops (with the exact same print).  I also think the sleeveless version is more flattering on me.  This was an easy decision.  RETURN

Finally, the Kensie Mally Ponte jacket and black Erica Taylor Karen Straight Leg pants.  This jacket was so soft and comfortable.  The material made me feel like I was wearing a tailored sweatshirt.  I usually go for items in bolder colors because I’m pretty pale, but I just loved this.  As for the pants, I kind of cheated.  I had decided that I probably wouldn’t keep them.  They were pull on, which I loved!  But I wasn’t sold on the fit.  And then I wore them to an auction, but kept the tags on so I’d have to option to return.  I know this is against the rules, but I couldn’t decide and figured it would be a good test.  Wearing them for hours made me realize I actually really liked them.  KEEP and KEEP

Ok, better hair in these next photos…

First up, the red 41 Hawthorn, Tulla Pintuck Detail Blouse.  I should note that I specifically requested short sleeve tops.  I have a ton of sleeveless tops and I don’t like wearing sleeveless at work without some type of jacket or cardigan.  I wanted a few short sleeve options to mix things up.  I liked the red and the pleats and thought this would make a great work top.  While red isn’t really a neutral, I think I can wear this with almost anything – even into fall.  KEEP

Next up, the green Pale Sky, Kiara Eyelet top and Liverpool Capri jeans.  I loved the green!  I had pinned quite a few green tops and was excited to see this in my fix.  I also thought the eyelet on top was such a cute detail.  This top was a bit pricey and I wasn’t sure about the fit.  It also wrinkles rather easily.  I had to think about this one and ultimately decided to keep it, but size up for a looser fit.  I think I’ll get lots of wear out of it.  The capri jeans were a definite no.  They just didn’t fit well and I wasn’t happy with the way they looked on me.  KEEP and RETURN

Next, I tried on the Market & Spruce, Amethyst Eyelet Detail knit striped dress.  I feel like the photo does this no justice whatsoever.  It was so comfortable on and I loved the style.  The fabric was a bit thicker, which made it more flattering.  When I pulled this out of the box, I thought it would be a no because I usually need dresses that are A-line or fit and flare, but this worked (at least I think so).  This was a definite keeper, I just feel like it’s cuteness is not exemplified.  KEEP

Finally, the yellow dress (I need to find the style card with the name of this cutie).  Everyone who saw this one loved it (except for A – ha!).  I was so torn.  I love the look of it in the box, but I don’t love it on me.  I just feel like yellow isn’t the best color for me and I also felt like the fit was a bit off on the top portion (you can see that in the first photo).  Ultimately, I decided to return this one, though it was a tough decision.  RETURN

Stitch Fix 22

I received my 23rd Stitch Fix today and it reminded me that I never shared Stitch Fix 22, which I received in early November.  Epic fail on my part.  Only 4 months late.  This is also the longest I’ve gone between Fixes.  It’s definitely NOT because I’ve lost interest in Stitch Fix – I still love it.  But with the holidays and following a few bloggers who share clothing deals, I was purchasing my own clothes and didn’t necessarily need any items from SF.  So I decided with Spring due any day now (haha!), maybe it was time for some transitional pieces.  I’ll try to share Fix 23 sooner, you know, as opposed to four months from now (I haven’t even looked at it yet).  But here’s 22 (note: I received these so long ago, I deleted the photos from my phone so these are copies from Instagram):

I first tried on the Nine Britton Peralta Bell Sleeve Knit Top and Liverpool Kay Skinny Jean.  I usually gravitate to floral tops.  I love the feminine print, the navy background, and the mix of colors on this particular top, but in regards to style, it didn’t do anything for me.  I wasn’t sold on the sleeves and I didn’t find it especially flattering.  It was just ok and I couldn’t keep a just ok top.  The jeans on the other hand, were the best jeans I’ve ever tried on.  I own a few pairs of SF Liverpool jeans and they are my absolute favorite.  They’re the most flattering and most comfortable.  These were also an “ankle” style, which was perfect for my height – I often find that jeans are too long.  I didn’t need these, but there was no way I was letting them go back.  RETURN, KEEP

Next up, the Kut from the Kloth Shannay Crossfront Blouse and Violet & Red Jackie Laser Cut Heeled Bootie.  I really liked the style of the top – it had a drapey look and a loose fit.  I also really liked the color – especially for the approaching holidays.  But it was too similar to tops I already own so I decided to send it back.  As for the booties, I liked the laser cut detail, but they weren’t very comfortable and just didn’t wow me.  I’m really picky when it comes to shoes and these didn’t make the cut.  RETURN, RETURN

Finally, the Mo-Ka Ebele Faux Leather Jacket.  I’m not a leather jacket kind of girl.  I would have never picked one out at a store.  And that is exactly what I love about Stitch Fix – they send you items you wouldn’t necessarily consider and you realize you’ve been missing out.  I fell in love with this jacket.  It was perfect for fall and I’m hoping to get some use out of it this spring.  Or is leather out for spring?  Regardless, my fabulous stylist, Jasmine, made me realize that I AM a (faux) leather jacket wearing kinda girl after all.  Who knew?!  KEEP

Stitch Fix Friday

I just received a notification that my Stitch Fix was on its way.  My initial reaction was, “wait, what?!?”.  You see, when I complete one Stich Fix order, the next is automatically scheduled.  I usually receive an email letting me know that I should complete the note to my stylist and I often adjust the delivery date.  For some reason, I didn’t receive that email this time.  I likely wasn’t paying attention and deleted it.  So no note to my stylist, no stylist request, no Pinterest updates.  I have no idea what I’ll receive and it may all be returned.  But that reminded me that I should probably share my last Stitch Fix…

The first item I tried on was this striped sweater.  It’s definitely my style.  I love anything stripes and really liked the navy and burgundy colors in this sweater - perfect for fall.  I think this was A’s favorite item.  But I ultimately decided not to keep this because I have a few different striped sweaters already and I have a ton of long sleeve striped tees.  RETURN

Next up, this Market & Spruce Lacie Ribbed Zipper Detail Cardigan.  I loved the color, but usually stick to longer jackets that cover my behind.  At first sight, I assumed I wouldn’t keep this because it wasn’t long enough.  A wasn’t crazy about the asymmetrical style, however, I really liked it when I saw it on.  I loved the overall style and thought it was flattering.  KEEP

Next, this floral top.  This was my mom’s favorite.  I liked it, but didn’t love it.  The pattern was really bold.  This girl loves a floral pattern, but for some reason, I just didn’t love this one.  I’m also picky about tops that have that triangle cut out at the top.  I know that’s weird.  Ultimately, I decided I had enough floral tops and this would go back. RETURN

Finally, the jeans and Market & Spruce Hans Crochet Front black top.  These jeans didn’t fit me well.  I’m not sure if they were too small or if it was the style.  In the photo, they appear flattering (at least I think so), but I wouldn’t be comfortable wearing them.  I really liked the top.  It’s difficult to see the design in the photo, but it had a crochet pattern throughout, which gave it a unique twist.  I thought it would be great under blazers, cardigans or the cardigan above.  RETURN/KEEP

My beloved stylist, Kate, left the company so I had a new stylist this time around.  I was so impressed by the items she chose and would have requested her again if I’d actually filled out my stylist note. :)  I'll update with the names of the items I didn't keep (assuming I can find my style card).

Stitch Fix #20

It’s been way too long since I’ve done a Stitch Fix post.  And truth be told, I can’t even remember when I got this Fix – sometime in June.  It was my 20th Fix!!  While I love Stitch Fix, I haven’t really felt like I needed new clothes (I bought a few dresses from Old Navy and Loft earlier in the summer and recently found a few fall items during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale) so I haven’t been scheduling Stitch Fix deliveries.

The first item I tried was this Market & Spruce Penny Cotton Embroidered Eyelet dress.  At first glance, I really liked it.  The entire dress was made up of thicker embroidered material and I love navy blue.  While I liked the pattern/style, there was absolutely no give to the dress.  It just felt confining (snug) and impractical for outings with the boys.  I also didn’t think it was very flattering on so I decided to send it back. RETURN

Items two and three where the Q & A Barahona Lattice Detail blouse and Just Black Lane Skinny jeans.  My initial impression of the top was ehh.  But once I put it on, I thought it was really cute.  I liked the style and colors and thought it could be a great work top, but was also casual enough for weekends.  It was light and flowy.  I really loved these white jeans.  They fit well, had the right amount of stretch, weren’t see through, and just great overall.  BUT.  I rarely wear white jeans because KIDS.  When I do wear them, it’s usually a day in which I’m heading into the office.  I already have one pair and just didn’t see a need for another.  However, if you’re in the market for a high quality pair of white jeans, I definitely recommend these.  KEEP, RETURN

The fourth item tried on was this Market & Spruce Caitria Tulip Sleeve blouse.  This was just ok.  I didn’t love the pattern or the tulip sleeves.  The fit wasn’t perfect.  I tend to gravitate to florals, but this floral pattern just didn’t wow me.  RETURN

Finally, the Collective Concepts Eayers Embroidered Cold Shoulder top.  I know cold shoulder tops are on trend, but I hate them.  While I think they look cute on others, they’re just not for me.  I’ve decided I have slopey shoulders (lol) so straps often fall down and I really have no desire to highlight my shoulders.  I did like the seersucker material and embroidered flowers, but absolutely hated the fit/style.  This was a definite NO.  Goodbye.  RETURN

Only one item kept this time so my wallet is happy. J

Stitch Fix #19

I’ve lost track of how many Stitch Fix boxes I’ve received.  I thought maybe this was #15 and I’m actually up to #19...  wow!  Prior to receiving this one, I only planned on keeping one or two items.  A blogger I follow and love recently started her own clothing line and I really wanted to purchase one of her pieces.  I love her fashion advice and love the opportunity to support other women!

As always, here is my referral link if you’re interested in giving it a try.

The first outfit I tried on was entirely Stitch Fix.  Let’s start with the Mia Belen Loafers.  These were so wrong for me.  I liked the idea of them, but I’m just not a fan of the loafer style.  I do love the red!  But I felt like Bozo. J  These shoes were too big for me and I didn’t think they were at all flattering.  Maybe if they weren’t so pointy?  These were a no.  RETURN  I really liked the Liverpool Elizabeth Super Skinny jeans and would have kept them, but wanted to stick to my budget.  These are the coveted pull on jeans that I previously received and Liverpool jeans are my absolute favorite.  I even requested these so felt a little guilty returning them.  Maybe I’ll request them again in a later fix, but I just felt like I didn’t need them.  RETURN  And finally the black Sweet Grey - McCarthy Woven Sleeve knit top.  I liked the fit of this and really liked the overall style.  It wasn’t a boring black top by any means – the sleeves and neck area made it more interesting with the sheer fabric and dots.  I also felt like this would be a great work top, but at the same time, it wasn’t too fancy and I could wear it while hanging out with the boys.  KEEP

Next, the floral Market & Spruce - Bambrey Cowl Neck Knit Pullover top.  When I peeked to preview what I’d be receiving, I thought this was a definite no.  The picture of it made the floral pattern seem very subdued and I thought it was a turtle neck.  It looked like something a grandma would wear.  And then when I tried it on, I realized I was completely wrong.  It was not even close to being considered a turtle neck and felt more like a sweatshirt with a front pocket.  And I really liked the floral pattern.  I absolutely loved this under my favorite cargo vest.  This is perfect for hanging out with the boys on a spring day, you know, if it ever actually warms up! KEEP

Finally, the 41 Hawthorne – Paloma Embroidered Trim dress.  I loved the material of this.  It was thick and stretchy and really flattering.  I also loved the embroidered cut out details.  Unfortunately, the fit was a little off for me.  I think the waist needed to be a little higher for my body type.  I also felt like this was a bit formal for everyday wear and I just didn’t need another work dress.  RETURN

Stitch Fix Friday (#18)

I am way late in sharing my most recent Stitch Fix.  It arrived before the holidays and it took me a long time to take pictures.  I also ended up exchanging one of the items for a different size and had to wait for that to arrive (not that it took very long).  Without further ado….

I loved this Havana Front Buckle Pullover sweater and then when I viewed the photos A took, I felt like the way I styled it didn’t do the sweater any justice.  It looks a bit frumpy in the photo, but in reality, it’s so cute and cozy.  I love anything gray and the buckle closure is such a fun detail.  I wore this a couple weeks later with a black top underneath and different shoes and liked the outfit better.  Regardless of the way I styled, this sweater was a great addition to my closet.  KEEP

Next up, the Rossie Embroidered Sleeve Knit Sweatshirt.  I had this pinned and was excited to receive it.  My only complaint is that it didn’t arrive sooner. J  I love this under my green vest and I think it would have been perfect for the fall months.  Truth be told, I’m struggling with how to style it for winter months.  It’s a bit shorter than tops I typically wear so I do prefer to wear it under a vest, but will have to experiment with other looks.  Embroidery seems to be super trendy lately and I liked that this incorporated the trend without being overly embroidered.  KEEP

Next up, this cozy Ellah Textured Front Cowl Neck purple sweater.  I love it with leggings, skinny jeans, or under a vest.  It’s such a versatile sweater and great for work or being home with the boys.  I had ordered a sweater from Loft in almost the exact same shade and it arrived with a hole so I was happy to keep this and return the other sweater.  I love purple and so does W.  This was a definite keeper.  KEEP

Let’s call this photo, “Hey, I just realized I’m wearing my new Stitch Fix Elizabeth Super Skinny Jeans – can you take a photo??” J  Let’s talk about these jeans for a minute.  They have an elastic waist!!  As in, no zipper, no button.  And I love that about them!!  These are black, but they’re sort of a blue-black, which I also love.  They’re incredibly versatile.  They do require an extra tug to pull on because of the elastic, but they fit like a glove.  Team elastic all the way!!  KEEP

Finally, the Tonie Lace Inset Pullover sweater.  When I initially tried this on, it was more on the fitted side.  It wasn’t tight by any means, but I thought I’d feel more comfortable if I sized up.  Then when I looked at the photos, I thought the smaller sweater probably would have been more flattering.  Oh well.  I like it either way (and yes, I need to iron it).  I initially thought this was a blush color, but it’s more of a cream, which I like MUCH better.  I love the feminine lace detail and there’s even a zipper on the side.  I actually wore this to my company holiday party and felt put together, but not too dressy.  KEEP

I loved this fix!!  It was another 5/5.  Unfortunately, I don’t think the photos demonstrate how great these pieces really are.  Special thanks to Addie for posing with me, as usual. :)

Stitch Fix #17

Better late than never, right?  Finally getting around to sharing Stitch Fix #17.

https://www.stitchfix.com/referral/5478084?sod=w&som=c

I tried on this Gilli Kamile 2fer Faux Suede Knit dress first.  Why is it called Faux Suede??  I guess the skirt is super soft and kind of feels like suede?  Anyway.  I had been admiring this dress for quite some time and pinned it ages ago, but figured “that ship had sailed”.  I was so excited to receive it.  I really love navy and you know I love floral patterns.  I have at least 3 other Gilli dresses and they all fit like a dream – flattering and comfortable.  This dress was no exception.  I like that this can be worn through seasons – sleeveless for summer and with a cardigan for fall.  (I made poor A take photos of this dress 3 separate times because they were not turning out so thank you for putting up with me, A!!)  KEEP

Next was the Hadwin Embroidered Tie Sleeve Knit top.  This was unlike anything in my closet.  I take that back – it has narrow stripes.  I’m stripe obsessed and stripes are taking over my closet.  BUT the sleeves were unlike anything in my closet.  I loved the embroidery and the ties.  And the stripes were a nice bonus!  I’m not sure this is the most flattering on me, but I loved it nonetheless.  Bell sleeves seem to be in this season and this made me feel stylish.  The very first time I wore this out, I was complimented, which only means I made the right choice in keeping it. ;)  KEEP

Next was the Chavez Pop Color Cuff Knit striped top.  This was a bit clingy so I exchanged for the next size up.  I probably shouldn’t have kept this because as I mentioned, I already have plenty of striped tops.  I liked the pink detail on the sleeves and can you really ever have too many striped tops?  In my case, no.  I think I’ll get lots of use out of this under cargo vests and under my cargo jacket.  What did I wear all fall before cargo vests were a thing??  I have no idea.  KEEP

Then it was time for the Canaya Cotton Blend Pullover navy sweater.  Another item from my Pinterest Board.  I love navy, but I’m never sure if I should wear it with jeans because then I’m all blue.  I think this works because the sweater and jeans are different shades of blue, but you can tell me if it doesn’t.  My stylist suggested wearing it with distressed denim and I’ll definitely give that a try.  I think this would also be cute with black leggings or black skinny jeans.  Unfortunately, you can’t even see my favorite detail on this sweater  - the buttons all down the sides.  It was a really cute addition that made the sweater.  KEEP

Finally, the Potina Draped cardigan.  As far as I’m concerned, this should be named after me because it’s everything I adore – a long gray cardigan with a stripe detail… yes, please.  I LOVE this.  The pictures don’t do it justice.  It was super soft and comfortable.  I plan on wearing this all the time.  End of story.  KEEP

Thank you to Addie for being my modeling partner.

And as I was looking over the pictures, I found these little treasures.

Also, I immediately went and got a haircut, because I don’t know why my hair looks so big and crazy in all of these.  Whew.
